An ambitious global effort is needed to unite and connect actions and commitments from all stakeholders on SDG7 during the High-level Dialogue on Energy at the UN General Assembly in September. The Green Hydrogen Compact Catalogue seeks to elevate and accelerate the actions needed to make the promise of green hydrogen a reality
In connection with the High-level Dialogue on Energy 2021 (HLDE), businesses, national and subnational governments, civil society, stakeholder consortia and others are encouraged to submit Energy Compacts that contribute to achieving SDG7: to ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, & modern energy for all.
The United Nations Marrakech Partnership’s Climate Action Pathway on Green Hydrogen offers guidance on the scope and scale of stakeholder action required to deliver a 1.5C compatible energy sector by 2050. In the immediate, this action can aim to achieve the UN Breakthrough Outcome of at least 25 GW Green hydrogen capacity deployed by 2026, toward delivering 500-1000 GW required by 2030. Businesses, countries, and other stakeholders are encouraged to establish Energy Compacts that help to deliver these outcomes through sector-specific and market-enabling targets and measures to accelerate development of a green hydrogen ecosystem and value chain.
In an effort to support the needed energy transition and acceleration of the green hydrogen value chain, the partners of this catalogue intend to highlight the complexity and need for collective action from a multitude of stakeholders. This being from financing, expansion of renewable energy capacity, green hydrogen and downstream products production and all the way to the off-takers.
This dialogue will continue through the Decade of Action and requires urgent action. By contributing to the Green Hydrogen Compact and having your Energy Compact consolidated in this catalogue you will be a part of driving the conversation, the action and the ambition.
You will find everything you need in the menu above. Under Get Involved you can find the guidelines for joining the Green Hydrogen Compact Catalogue and under Past Events you can watch a workshop on how to create and Energy Compact related to green hydrogen.
